MBI 110 for Nova Scotia DOT

18.07.2011

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure took possession of their first MOOG under-bridge unit.  To meet their needs they ordered a model MBI 110-1,2/S mounted on an International model 4300M7 SBA 4X2 truck chassis.

This unit gives Nova Scotia DOT the versatility of a mid-size unit allowing them to work off either side of the bridge they can reach up to 36 ft. 1 in. horizontally under the bridge, with a maximum lowering depth of 21 ft. 4 in.  The unit’s spacious platform allows them a maximum weight of 1,100 pounds spread throughout the whole platform and offers them 180º of platform rotation area underneath the bridge.  The biggest advantage of the truck-mounted units is its ability to need only the width of the truck on the bridge deck when erected.  This is due to MOOG’s patented drive system that uses additional standard road axles to better distribute the weight of the unit preventing any damage to the road surface instead of the industry standard outriggers.

As with all MOOG units, this unit is self-propelled once on the bridge deck; has an on-board generator to supply power to electrical outlets on the platform and comes equipped with a backup hydraulic system.  It has one of the industries best safety systems in place to ensure both personnel and equipment are always protected.  This unit also came with portable scaffolding that allows personnel to access areas in deep girders.
